The Northern Fiction Alliance and The BKS Agency have partnered up to launch the first ‘Get a Job in Publishing’ Conference.

In collaboration with Comma Press, both agencies have joined the Publishers Association and Manchester Metropolitan University in hosting a day addressing what the UK publishing industry is all about. Taking place on Saturday 27th April 2019, the conference promises talks on the industry of publishing from every angle, including career opportunities and the various routes into the industry.

Open to guests with all levels of experience or lack thereof, the conference will feature special guest speakers from leading publishing houses across the UK, proposing to create more transparency around the publishing industry, provide guidance on beginning a career in publishing, illuminate the process of publishing and provide information on success in interviews, on the range of available career paths such as editorial, marketing and sales, publicity, and on the rewards and challenges of working in the field.

Comma Press are additionally offering a limited amount of sponsored tickets, which have been hospitably donated by various organisations, available to aspiring publishers who are on a low income or cannot afford to the cost of attending the conference in Manchester. More details on applying for a sponsored ticket to attend the conference can be found here.

Otherwise, tickets for purchase are set at £50, inclusive of refreshments, and can be booked on eventbrite here.

The conference is set to take place on Saturday the 27th April 2019 between 9:30am and 5pm in the Sandra Burslem Building at Manchester Metropolitan University.
