London based prog-rock new wave band HMLTD have released their debut album, West of Eden, via Lucky Number Music.
Several years in the making, the group have released a daring collection of songs designed to incite a conversation about masculinity, the decadence of western capitalism, and the violence of insecurity and repression.
Across the 15 tracks, the band realise their artistic vision in full technicolour, creating an album that is equal parts lush and abrasive. The album includes explosive comeback singles including ‘LOADED’, ‘THE WEST IS DEAD’, ‘Why?’ and the boldly optimistic ‘Blank Slate’.
Vocalist Henry Spychalski describes the album as “A portrait of a civilisation on the brink of collapse. This the world our generation will spend its lives in, and we somehow need to find love and meaning within it. This album is about the struggle that we all live, and about turning that struggle into joy”.
To celebrate the album’s release, the band has shared an enigmatic new video, entitled the ‘West of Eden Chapter 0: Prelude’ that features a snippet of new unreleased music, with the video animated by their frequent collaborator Mike Raymond, who also designed their striking album artwork.
HMLTD are currently on tour and will be playing Manchester on the 19th of February at YES. More tour information and where to listen can be found here.
