Creative Writing: Call for submissions – DISRUPTION

0 391

As creatives, many of us feel an obligation to react to, and represent, our lived experiences in and of the world. How then do we approach poetry, stories, and art in a moment for which we have no point of reference? By reworking, reinventing, innovating, and experimenting.

We hope that you will embrace and embody the theme of DISRUPTION in your work and seize it as an opportunity of entirely uninhibited creative freedom. We are looking for work that is bold and brave in its conviction to destabilise and transgress conventional modes of expression, that breaks beyond the boundaries of ‘the new normal’ into uncharted territories that excite and intrigue us.

Poet Robert Frost once said, “I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering.” It was unclear how 2021 was going to begin, and impossible to predict how it is going to end; but as artists and writers, what we can hold onto is the fact is that we all possess the ability to start creating. Consider each word and image as an act of discovery, and send us work that disrupts expectations, both ours and your own.

We are accepting works of prose, poetry, flash fiction and art on the theme of DISRUPTION. All work will be considered for publication, but only work under 300 words in length will have the opportunity to be featured in our print magazine. Longer pieces of poetry and prose will still have the opportunity to be published on our online magazine.

To send us your submission, please email a word document or PDF to aAh.Editor@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Creative Submission’.

The closing date for submissions is 26th February.

To anyone who is struggling with the disruption, keep going.
