When Foo Fighters headlined Glastonbury back in 2017, frontman Dave Grohl teased that they might play some songs from their tenth record. At the time, we had no clue what that record would sound like. Following the release of their second single, ‘No Son Of Mine’ we’re finally starting to get an idea.
The track sets a relentless pace – opening with a chugging Motorhead-esque riff, and undercut by a headbanging rhythm that even Rammstein would be proud of. Meanwhile, the lyrics rally against ‘the hypocrisy of self-righteous leaders’, as explained by Grohl. ‘No Son Of Mine’, is much more of a festival track than their previous single ‘Shame Shame’, with the Foos assuring fans (via an Instagram post) that crowds will be ‘blowing up’ when it’s played live. The two songs show the diversity of their forthcoming album, Medicine At Midnight. It promises to be a classic Foo Fighters record full of the anthemic choruses and air-tight riffs that have become their signature.
Foo Fighters’ new album, Medicine At Midnight, will be released on February 5th 2021 through Roswell Records/Colombia Records.
