Creative: Journey by Kerry Power

A journey, a road, a silvery trail,
The depth of an ocean, time to set sail.

The wonder, the pain, the fear and the dread,
The freedom given from all that’s been said.

Floods of fear, like an earthquake within,
Each line’s a story, so vivid; I spin.

Deep cuts, I’m broken, then healing again,
Is this what is meant to make up all men?

Like a glass that has shattered and splintered,
The storms that we weather; those winters.

The growth, the joy, the miracles within,
The twists of agony, life can begin.

Sparks of euphoria, coupled with fear,
The ecstatic panic, now that you’re here.

The stretching, changing, my body anew,
I would not change it, it all healed me too.

Though it’s different, imperfect, and flawed,
I trace my fingers across it, I’m awed.

The building of bridges, healing; a wonder,
The calm that can come, after the thunder.

A plant that’s faced winter, we’ve come so far,
Memories not lost, withheld in that scar.
