Manchester-based retailer Pretty Little Thing has created a collection called #EveryBODYinPLT for International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day has been held on the 8th March every year since 1975, which was the year of celebrating International Women.

The proceeds of the collection will go to charity The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGS).

WAGGS represent 10 million girls in 150 countries, developing their leadership skills and empowering them to make their communities and countries a better place by speaking out on issues that are important to them. Their vision is that all girls are valued and take action to change the world.

#EveryBODYinPLT is an inclusive fashion line available in sizes 2 – 28 that aims to make “every woman feel powerful, strong, and beautiful in their own individual way” and “like they’re ready to take on the world”.

The collection features models with a variety of body types, backgrounds and abilities. One such woman is Maria Malek, who is a DJ and social media influencer as well as a model, and whose mission is to help underprivileged women and children.

Pretty Little Thing hasn’t, however, declared whether the clothes are being ethically produced – up to 75 million people are employed in the garment industry worldwide, most in the Global South, with three quarters of the workforce made up of women.

Let’s hope that the collection that aims to be celebrating and uplifting women will be paying the workers a living wage, as according to one report, garment workers typically only receive 0.6% of the cost of a standard t-shirt.
