This Thursday 14th July, the Black Cat Poets, a group formed by students and graduates of Manchester Writing School, will be gathering for an evening of food, drink and poetry readings. The event will take place at Thackeray’s book shop in Denton Civic Square, Denton, Manchester.
Following a very successful launch, the evening will be the group’s second gathering. Guests at the event will include poet and Canal Laureate Jo Bell, Apprentice Poet in Residence for Ilkley Literature Festival Mark Pajak and this year’s Hamish Canham prize-winner Ian Humphreys. Also appearing are Rosamond Prize shortlistee Keith Hutson and Gloucester poet Rebecca Audra Smith. Rebecca is the co-founder of Manchester’s pro-feminist collective Stirred.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to read their own work. Organisers of the event would especially like to welcome first time poetry readers as well as people who have never attended a poetry evening before. The event begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £3 which includes a welcome drink. Hot and cold food is also available.
