Manchester is a fantastic place to live; it’s one of the most vibrant parts of the country and is home to many cultures.
From Thursday 4 – Sunday 7 February, you can celebrate the Chinese New Year and leap into the Year of the Monkey. There are going to be plenty of spectacular events and celebrations in Manchester including: lanterns, dancing dragons, light shows and scrumptious street food.

Thursday 4 February
Chinese Food Market – St Ann’s Square, 11am – 7pm
Red Lanterns – Shopping streets, Chinatown, Albert Square
Live Music Stage – St Ann’s Square, 12 – 2pm & 4 – 6pm
Friday 5 February
30 Years of CFCCA (Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art) – CFCCA, Market Buildings, Thomas St
Chinese New Year at Selfridges – Selfridges, Exchange Square, 12 – 6pm
Saturday 6 February
Lion Dancers – Exchange Square to King Street, 1 – 5pm
RareKind China – Live Street Art Exhibition – Selfridges, New Cathedral Street, House of Fraser
Sunday 7 February
The Dragon Parade, Chinatown Celebrations and Fireworks – Albert Square & Chinatown, 1pm Dragon Parade, 6pm Fireworks
Hainan Airlines and Manchester Airport are also giving away a holiday for two direct to Beijing from Manchester as part of the celebrations.
