By Thanos Kyratzis

It ain’t easy.

Pieces, shrapnel, scraps,

All around you, as you sit in earth that’s charred.

Struggle and fatigue make you linger,

Cold, with the wounds showing,

You claw your way out and up.

The more you climb,

It bites you, gnaws you down deep,

How you want to look over the shoulder,

To get that one last peek.

And in that look that you’ve fooled yourself it’ll be the last,

Turns out that crash,

Is awe-inspiring.

Even when you fall you create.

With that one thought,

You take a step to beginning from scratch.
