Shine – A Poem by Justine Chamberlain

Sunshine

Shine

Sun, this morning. Low in the sky. Brightening
those nooks of the kitchen usually kept in shade
or electric shadow. I keep out of it.

Mud clumps streak the lino like mountains.
The chasm where I dropped the knife,
point first, pools with an unusual darkness.
