Alt-pop trio We Three headlined a sold-out Manchester Academy 2 for a performance of a lifetime. With a social media following of over one million followers on TikTok, this was a highly anticipated gig for the Portland band. We Three’s incredibly relatable songs spanning themes of love, mental health and insecurity are a must-add to playlist. The Portland group came across the sea to bring their fantastic show to the UK and to showcase their powerful vocal and musical abilities.
Singer songwriter and Youtube sensation Alfie Sheard is supporting for the evening. Alfie quickly rose to fame online busking on the street, before going on to perform Eric Clapton’s ‘Wonderful Tonight’ on Ellen. He opens his set with a unique cover of ‘Fast Car’ by Luke Combs, turning it into a medley of ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran.
Alfie performs his first single ‘Wish You Missed Me More’, before rolling into more medleys of ‘Stand By Me,’ ‘Every Breath You Take,’ and ‘Beautiful Girls.’ It’s not easy to mix songs like this, but Alfie has perfected the art. His impeccable vocal and guitar skills shine throughout his set. As he closes his performance with Goo Goo Dolls’ classic ‘Iris’, the audience are firmly in the palm of his hand.
Next up is pop singer Morgan St. Jean. Starting her set with hits from her latest album, Skin and Bones, she soon has the crowd singing along to ‘Energy (Lucky Me)’, ‘Thank Me’, and ‘Woman Made’. Morgan’s cover of Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ is a highlight, as she adds her own unique vocal spin to the iconic track. Closing her set with ‘To The Bank’, it’s a soothing end to a performance to remember.
As the crowd catch their breath, We Three frontman Joshua Humlie finally enters the stage to kick off their set dressed as their Love Me album cover. Getting close and personal entering the photography pit, he interacts with the crowd before returning to the stage to put on an outstanding show.
The family trio really know how to get the audience excited as Joshua, Bethany, and Manny Humlie engage with their fanbase throughout, delivering a truly theatrical performance.
‘Hell is Well’, ‘Ex’s Lovers’ and ‘Bad Ass Bitch’ demonstrate the band’s unbelievable vocals. The siblings have been creating music their whole lives and it shows tonight. It’s wholesome to witness the bond between the band and their fans and the enjoyment is played out across the whole venue.
They give another shout-out to their latest album and perform some of the new songs, much to the delight of the adoring crowd. ‘Fire Away’, ‘She’s Got That’ and ‘God Things’ were some of the highly anticipated songs that fans were waiting for throughout the evening. These songs got the crowd excited as they were currently exclusive to the Love Me album
As the gig comes to a close, there are still two songs yet to be played that fans have been anticipating all night. As the trio comes back on stage, there is a thunderous ovation as the intro for ‘Kissing When We’re Mad’ begins. This is shortly followed by ‘In Therapy’, the last song for the show. This was by far the biggest hit of the night as the crowd erupted as the first notes ring out. They certainly know how to leave a crowd wanting more.
We Three’s new album, Love Me, is available on all streaming platforms and in physical copies on their website.
