Lucy Spraggan gave her most energetic performance to date, selling out Manchester’s iconic Albert Hall this weekend. Playing some of her greatest hits, the audience were ecstatic as she proved she was in her element energising the crowd with her upbeat songs.
Lucy has been on a UK tour since the release of her album Balance, which began in Glasgow.
London-based singer Cassa Jackson opened the event, delivering catchy hit ‘Suits U’. She continued by singing ‘Parallel Universe,’ as the crowd in the venue swayed and shone their torches.
As she began one of her more well-known songs to round out the show, Cassa said, “You might remember this song because of TikTok. Sing along if you know the lyrics.” She then launched into her last song, ‘Sophie.’
“I love you Manchester,” Cassa Jackson exclaimed as she got up to leave the stage. “When I go on tour, I’m definitely return here.”
The second support act for the evening was Irish singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist, Gareth Dunlop. His performance was more melodious, which helped to lighten the mood. His incredible vocals filled the audience as he opened his concert with ‘Small Talk.’
“This next one is for all you ‘Lucifer’ fans out there,” he told the crowd, before moving onto his next song, ‘Devil Like You.’
He wrapped up his performance with the upbeat song ‘Look Back Smiling.’
After a brief interlude, Lucy Spraggan took the stage, and the audience erupted. Her dedicated followers did not let her down on her return to Manchester.
Even before Lucy had started her first song, the Albert Hall broke into a thunderous round of applause. Spraggan played the smash hit ‘Unsinkable’ to open her act. The sensation of hearing and watching her admirers sing along to the songs was surreal.
After the first few songs, Lucy was clearly trembling with excitement. Speechless, she stared into the audience with an expression of disbelief on her face. She swiftly transitioned to more of her beaming songs, including ‘Run’ and ‘Mountains,’ matching the energy of this incredible audience.
Further in the set, she brought down the tone to bring a heartfelt message to her beloved fanbase. She mentioned a time where she didn’t know who she was or who she wanted to be. Struggling with this feeling for years she finally figured out who she was, she is; in her own words: “Someone who doesn’t give a sh*t”. Leading on from this motivational story, she moved onto one of her newer songs, ‘Bodies’.
The audience was not willing to let that stop them as they yelled Lucy’s name during a brief break in the performance. The entire Albert Hall was yelling “Lucy, Lucy, Lucy Fu**ing Spraggan” in a matter of seconds. These devoted supporters’ voices reverberated throughout Manchester, expressing their admiration and affection for this legendary musician.
Lucy said: “I’ve always wanted to play this venue since I knew it existed, so this is a dream come true tonight.” A wish that was fulfilled this evening.
Soon after, Spraggan sparked the crowd’s enthusiasm once more with her performances of ‘Lucky Stars,’ ‘Lighthouse,’ and ‘Lightning.’ This was a night that Lucy and her fans will never forget, with the lyrics being sung throughout Albert Hall.
Fans were shouting for more as the musicians left the stage as they didn’t want the concert to finish. Lucy performed on stage for the final time this evening before a passionate audience. She wrapped out her act with ‘Last Night’ and ‘Everything,’ thanking her audience for a memorable evening.
With stops in Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham, London, and her native Sheffield, Lucy Spraggan will continue her UK tour. Check out her brand-new album Balance.
