Manchester Metropolitan University’s new Students’ Union building, which has been in the planning stages since 2010, has finally opened its doors to students.
It’s bright, airy and stylish! With food, drinks, pool tables, table tennis, videos games, a stationary shop and areas to study, you really should jog on down to your newly available space and take advantage of what it has to offer.
The large event space found at the centre of the ground floor includes a space large enough to host many occasions including: gigs, exhibitions, film screenings and sports. At roughly the size of two tennis courts, it has the capacity to hold plenty of students.
The first floor holds a conference suite, a student officers and student voice section, an activities and opportunities section and balcony to watch all the action in the even space below. The second floor includes quiet, social and meeting spaces for all of your studying needs, and also features a studio (equipped with green screen and dance bar), media suite and advice centre. And finally the third floor includ
es an informal seating area, meeting spaces and student union staff space.
If you need a space to relax, either by yourself or with a group of friends, the new Student Union should be one of your first pit stops during the rest of the term.
Mike Palmer, President of the MMU Students’ Union, “The Students’ Union is now right at the heart of campus and there is something for all of our students. It’s great to have all of our services under one roof along with The Union Bar and Shop, a café, study rooms and a large event space. We’ve already had loads of positive feedback from students who love the look and feel of the building, as well as all the great things The Union has to offer.”
