Letter from our Creative Editors: We’re open for submissions!

January 2021

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way–in short, the period was so far like the present period…”

Charles Dickens.

Dear Creators,

I couldn’t find a better opening for this letter that sums up the current times as we start 2021 with lessons and hopes of yestermorrow. 2020 has definitely been an unexpected year to say the least, in terms of the pandemic looming over us, and how we live and create in times of uncertainty. For many the past year has been a struggle and gave us the opportunity to reflect, challenge and nurture the self. The ample spare time some of us have found ourselves with, has given us a chance to reflect on our lives and peruse once forgotten hobbies. From banana bread and dalgona coffee, to Tiger King and DIY’s there was something for everyone and it has definitely been a journey.

This is why this month’s theme is Journey. Talk to us, tell us about your journey over the course of the last year. Literal journeys, emotional journeys, or just your favourite 1970s rock band; there are no wrong answers. Do you have a creative submission to share ? Send it in!

We are accepting works of prose, poetry, flash fiction and art on the theme journey. All submissions should be a maximum of 1,500 words. To send us your submission, please email a word document or PDF to aAh.Editor@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Creative submission’.

The closing date for submissions is 20th January.

Happy Writing !
