UK Prime Minster Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care as his condition worsened, according to a statement from the government.
Mr Johnson was first admitted to hospital on Sunday 5th April following advice from his doctor for some routine tests, as he was still experiencing Coronavirus symptoms.
The decision was then made to move the prime minister to the Intensive Care Unit by his medical team at St Thomas’ Hospital in London on Monday 6th April, due to his “persistent Coronavirus symptoms”.
A No 10 Spokesman said: Since Sunday Evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.
The PM has asked Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, who is the first secretary of state, to deputise for him where necessary.
The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hardwork and dedication.
This is news comes after Johnson tweeted that he was in “good spirits” and was keeping in touch with his team in the efforts to fight the Coronavirus.
