With 2016 now behind us, it is time to look forward to the coming year and there is a lot to look forward in the fashion world in 2017. Here at Humanity Hallows, we’ve been looking at what the retailers are doing to make shopping easier and more exciting for the demanding consumers of today.
AI is all about the idea that retailers can make the shopping experience more personal and geared towards the consumer. It will link to the idea of the consumer footprint which enables them to know what you are looking at and buying. Store cards are one way in which stores track what you are buying and when. Artificial Intelligence is an extension of this by essentially being the ‘big brother’ of the high street.
Consumers are become more conscious and confident about where they spend their hard earned cash and sustainable fashion is at the forefront of this. With events like Rana Plaza and issues such as child labour, consumers are becoming more aware about the big boys of the high street and what they are doing as they deliver on fast fashion. Keep an eye on what your favourite brands are doing to be sustainable.
The smart phone market is flooded and this is reflected in the amount of shopping applications that are available within the relevant app stores. The mobile market is a major player with virtual reality stores growing fast. Being multi and Omni channel is the way that retailers are able to keep the consumer connected. Mobile shopping is all about making the shopping easy and quick. It is not all about the apps but about how they integrate tech into stores, with billboards and the possibility of virtual mirrors in fittings rooms. Instagram and Facebook are also still great platforms to get opinions from friends and followers.
Netflix series Stranger Things has been a massive hit for the provider. Forget 70s fashion; this show is set in the 1980s and mid-2017 will be all about power dressing with slouchy tailored suits and ruffled active wear. It will encompass the high street as catwalks flood with a modern take on the past.
Go bold or go home. This trends fuses with the 1980s, with the likes of Alexander Wang and Tommy Hilfiger showing the colour on the catwalks. It is sure to take over the windows on the high street. From mustards to pastel shades, it is sure to turn heads on the tarmac. Make sure to match your accessories to take from trash to cash.
