Elie Saab’s new couture collection for 2016 was inspired by “The Big Apple” – a ready-made New York theme ahead of his upcoming store in the city.

The iconic and inspirational Elie Saab is known for creating collections that smoothly blend into the next. Over the past few collections, Elie has brought the fresh and youthful concept to his looks and aesthetics and for the first time, introduced the idea of mother and daughter. This sure was a heart-stopper moment as children graced the runway, each lavishly dressed with a super cute ‘mommy and me’ concept.

His designs are dramatic and awe-inspiring. One of the skirts of a gown featured a flock of birds with a black velvet bodice. Hearts also appeared as prints as well as crystal embroideries. Flowers were also an iconic feature in the collection, lots of yellow and light blue, with black beads on tulle. Watercolour silk on an elegant gown was eye catching as it showed black beads embroidered in 3D on Chantilly lace which was appliqued on the beautiful gown.

Elie’s designs were exceptional. I absolutely love his use of shimmer tones for embroidery, it definitely gives a high quality definition to the collection – and an excuse to visit his new Madison Avenue store in 2017!
