A third season of Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror has been confirmed by Netflix to be released on Friday 21st October 2016. This is when the first half of the series will be released, with the second half to be released early next year.
Netflix earned the rights to the surrealist series earlier this year, meaning it will soon be no longer available on Channel 4 and its online service, 4OD.
What most viewers will be pleased to know about is that Brooker will still be at the helm of the show as writer and executive producer, meaning the changeover in services will not effect the surreal, dystopian futures we all know and love.
Brooker told The Independent: “It’s fair to say that, this season, some of the ideas are because we were aware of the greater progress of the world, that you’ve got to go two steps forward to stay ahead of reality at the moment.”
He added: “There are things that are more demented than Pokemon Go within this season.”
A whole host of big name actors have also been revealed to be taking part in the new series; such as War and Peace star James Norton, Jerome Flynn, (Bronn from Game of Thrones), Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard and Michael Kelly, who is best known for playing Frank Underwood’s ruthless Chief of Staff Doug Stamper in House of Cards.
