On Friday 27th May the Midland Hotel was host to the fourth annual HLSS End of Year Ball, which saw staff and students celebrating the end of the academic year in style.
The night was packed with entertainment and glamour as students and staff danced the night away. For many students, the evening was their last faculty event, which brought even more reason for all those attending to enjoy the evening.
The night started with a wonderful drinks reception, with drinks voted for by students, giving guests a chance to catch up after a busy year. As always, there was much excitement throughout the evening as Maria Holmes Loizou, final year student, said,
“It was a really good night, extremely well organised with entertainment from start to finish and an amazing happy atmosphere, everyone I know as well as myself wishes they could relive the evening!”
Throughout the three course dinner, tricks were performed by magician Jason Rea who stunned and amazed the crowd. Alongside this was the NorthWest Photo Booth, which left many in fits of giggles after throwing on props and taking photos with them. Nothing says fun more than inflatables and wigs!
The main event of the night was a performance from band Mancheska, which saw everyone up and dancing the night away. Some of the faculty were also winners during the night! The raffle draw saw a select group win restaurant vouchers, Afternoon Tea at the Midland Hotel, Jump Nation passes and two weekend tickets to Parklike Festival.
Event organiser and Student Enrichment Officer, Rachel Bruce, said,
“It was fantastic to see all our students come together to celebrate the end of the academic year. For some students, it was a celebration of their past three or four years here at Manchester Met, and we will be very sad to see them leave us. We were fortunate enough to secure an amazing band, Mancheska, who the students went wild for.
“The whole night went down really well, and we look forward to planning for 2017. It was really rewarding to see staff and students having such a good night.”
The party continued down at Black Dog Ball Room for those who wanted to carry the night on.
The evening as ever did not disappoint, especially for students like me who will be graduating this summer. However, for the many that still have the chance, make sure you keep an eye out for the event next year!
