A packed programme of talks and activities take place Manchester next week, welcoming Manchester Met students to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the city, as part of The Home Project.
Guest speakers include Big Issue North Editor Kevin Gopal, former Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam and Dean of the Manchester Cathedral.
The Home Project takes place Monday 25th – Friday 29th September and encourages students to explore their city of study and discover new venues, people, ideas and resources.
The events are grouped into four strands –‘Radical Manchester’, ‘Cottonopolis to the Northern Quarter’, ‘Is Manchester a Northern Powerhouse?’ and ‘International City’, each offering a valuable insight into the city, its past, present and future.
Students are invited to choose one of these strands and then embark on an exploration of Manchester through a series of powerful guest speaker events, talks and visits at key cultural venues. Students will then have the opportunity to work on a project to reflect what they’ve learnt about Manchester and have their work on exhibition at the Faculty Showcase in March.
The Home Project will then present a celebratory social at 12pm on Friday 29th September featuring poet Mike Garry performing live alongside Cassia String Quartet.
