Games You Must Play – October Edition

0 111

For those students who have had games as part of their daily routine since childhood, going to university can mean putting the controller on the back burner, but not all is lost. In-between lectures and seminars you may find you have the opportunity to sit back, relax, and pop in a disk or two. If you haven’t remembered to bring your game console along with you, I’m sure somebody in your digs will be happy to share the gaming joy!

This new monthly feature will list some of the upcoming months must have games spanning across all platforms. If you’re excited to have some one on one time with a particular title that isn’t listed, leave a comment below!

Uncharted – The Nathan Drake Collection (PS4)

The Uncharted series has been available for quite some time now, 8 years to be precise, and with the upcoming release of Uncharted: A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog are treating PlayStation 4 owners to the past three games all in one spectacular bundle!

If you’ve not yet delved into the world of Nathan Drake, firstly you’re mad, but secondly this bundle is for you as the team at Naughty Dog have gone the extra mile to make each title ready for the PS4.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (PS4, Xbox One)

Syndicate is set with London in 1868 during the Industrial Revolution, the story follows twins Jacob and Evie Frye as they fight against the Templars. This is the first game in the series which is set within England and features famous faces such as Charles Dickens and Charles Darwin.

Unlike past games, Syndicate will not have a multiplayer, which for fans of the series like me is a bonus! Ubisoft are focusing on single player only and I, and I hope you to, like this.

Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One)

If you’re an avid Xbox player and haven’t touched the Halo series now’s your chance with the release of Halo 5, which serves as a sequel to Halo 4.

“The peace bestowed on the galaxy by Master Chief is abruptly ended, and colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked by an ancient enemy. Our greatest hero has vanished; disappeared into the deepest, darkest depths of space. Become Spartan Locke, who is tasked with solving a galaxy-threatening mystery, and hunting down the elusive Master Chief.”

With backwards compatibility coming to Xbox One in November, it might be worth starting your journey into the Halo world as I’m sure Microsoft will allow some of the past Halo games to be playable on its new console soon enough.

Life is Strange – Episode 5: Polarized (PC, PS3, PS4 Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

Life is Strange is a five part episodic game that allows the player to rewind time and affect the past, present and future, allowing the plot of the game to instantly change. Like The Walking Dead games by Telltale Games, developer Dontnod has created something entirely new and fresh.

Whilst I have listed the final episode here, it’s worth noting that you can buy the season pass and get all five games at once without having to wait for any to release. If you’re in to narrative-driven titles, this one’s for you!
