With assignment deadlines fast approaching (at least for undergrads), it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to having a bit more free time on our hands. Even so, that period after all your assignments have been submitted can sometimes leave you a bit purposeless.

Global Café – Sip n Craft
Global Café is a relaxing space for students to make new friends through various activities. Head over to this Sip and Craft event and unlock your creativity by contributing to a group scrapbook. Whether you are new to this craft or a seasoned scrapbooker, it’s an opportunity to relax while creating. Refreshments available.

Digital Fluency
What is ‘digital fluency’? This workshop will give you an introduction, focusing on digital literacy essential for academic success. It will explore digital learning tools, demonstrate commonly-used platforms, and showcase additional support available to you.

Get Certified: Photoshop, Premier Pro or After Effects in a Day
This is a fully-funded opportunity to train and receive an external certification from Adobe (the industry-leading provider of software for video, design, photography and the web). Its packages are widely used throughout the creative industries, but they also support productivity and communication in a whole range of sectors.

Woodland workshop with Hulme Community Garden Centre
Join this woodland session to help maintain and enhance this natural space on campus. Led by Man Met’s local partner Hulme Community Garden Centre, you will be volunteering alongside other students and staff to learn all about woodland maintenance and wildlife. This will be a physical activity, involving shovels, spades and wheelbarrows!

Carbon Literacy Training for Staff and Students
A chance to learn about the Climate Crisis, how it works and how we can combat it in our personal and professional lives. This one-day course will give you an overview of climate change: the basic science behind it, its drivers and impacts, as well as an understanding of the actions required by individuals, communities, and organisations to avoid the worst impacts and set us on a path to a sustainable future.

Finders Keepers – Exploring the art of cultural-collaging through vinyl
After 25 years travelling the world as an artist, record producer, DJ, radio presenter and graphic designer Andy Votel still attributes much of his experience to ‘mixtape culture’ and the indiscriminate collaging of multi-cultural influences in both sonic and visual disciplines. Join Andy as he explores the roots of DJing and sample culture via ‘digging’ for vinyl records and see if it’s possible to create a mixtape or radio show which crosses a wealth of both cultural origins and language barriers through the power of music and having fun.

Funding for YOUR Community Projects
What does community mean to you? Do you have an idea to do good in your community and make change in places across Manchester? As part of Manchester Met’s 200 year celebrations the university is looking to support student community projects across Greater Manchester. Manchester Met is looking to offer funding support from a pot of £10,000 for project ideas that will make an impact in your Greater Manchester community.

The Festival of New Talent returns for its second year. The Bridges to New Worlds exhibition celebrates the work and innovative ideas of Man Met’s final-year undergraduate students, giving you the chance to speak to them about their ideas and ambitions.

The Prince’s Trust – Become an Education Mentor
Join The Prince’s Trust on campus, where they are hosting an assessment centre day for Education Mentor positions. A fantastic opportunity if you are interested in a career in teaching, education, or supporting children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Prince’s Trust Education Mentor scheme – Mosaic. Mosaic is an 8-week mentoring programme aimed to facilitate the personal development of young people in KS3 & 4.
