As the new semester gets underway and Fresher Week starts to feel like a distant memory, we’re keen to shine a light on student societies and how you can get involved.
Joining a student society is one of the best ways to make new friends and relax after your studies. There are tons of great societies to choose from at Manchester Met and aAh! will be highlighting some of our favourites.
We caught up with MMU Film Society to learn more about what they do and how you can get involved.
Tell us about your society…
We get together to watch and discuss films! Film society was the first society I joined and the friendly, laidback environment made making new friends a lot easier, especially as a first year who’s just moved to Manchester!
When and where do you meet?
We meet on Tuesdays from 5:30pm – 8pm at the Student Union.

Anything else you want students to know about your society?
We usually go out after film viewings for those who don’t want the night to stop when the credits roll. You don’t have to be a huge film fanatic to come to any of our socials, if you see we’re watching a film you’re interested in then come join us!
