As the new semester gets underway and Fresher Week starts to feel like a distant memory, we’re keen to shine a light on student societies and how you can get involved.
Joining a student society is one of the best ways to make new friends and relax after your studies. There are tons of great societies to choose from at Manchester Met and aAh! will be highlighting some of our favourites.
We caught up with MMU K-Pop Society to learn more about what they do and how you can get involved.
Tell us about your society…
We host game nights, random play dances, movie nights and dress up parties. Society members have shared: “It’s very interactive and fun, especially getting to know people”. Members also praise the society’s community aspect: “Finally found some people I’ve connected with and will continue talking to” and “the people (and the people running the social) made it so enjoyable.”
When and where do you meet?
Every Wednesday from 4-7pm in the Student Union.
What is your most popular event?
Our game nights.
What is your next event?
We’re hosting a random play dance social for our members to boogie to their favourite K-pop songs! The event is on 1st November from 4 – 7pm at the Student Union.
Anything else you want students to know about your society?
Our society is a safe space for people to come and share their love of K-pop with one another. We try to have a range of socials every week so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
