Peter Hook & The Light @ Albert Hall review – 80s rock legend returns home

Peter Hook & The Lights performed three consecutive nights at Manchester’s Albert Hall this month as part of an ‘Easter Homecoming’ hometown tour. The special gigs formed their first headlining dates for 2023, following their return from a North American and European tour.

Over the years, legendary bassist Peter Hook has been a part of many bands, including Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, and for the past 12 years, has been performing with The Light as they entertained audiences all around the world. Hook made sure his loyal fans enjoyed themselves to the fullest with his back to back live shows featuring performances of classic Joy Division/New Order albums.

On this particular night, Peter Hook and The Light performed songs from the albums Unknown Pleasures (Joy Division) and Movement (New Order), which included some of the greatest singles by the bands.

As people filed into Albert Hall, Hookey’s fans were eagerly awaiting his comeback, having waited in lines for hours earlier.

The audience erupted into excitement the moment The Light took the stage. As the legendary rockstar Hook strode into the spotlight with his guitar in hand, the crowd blew the roof apart.

“Alright, let’s do this,” Hook said, without wasting any time. They then launched into ‘No Lost Love.’

The band later took a brief break after playing the entire famous Unknown Pleasures album for the sold-out audience. They quickly returned to the stage and began performing songs from the Movement album, to another enthusiastic reception.

As Hook returned to the stage to continue the first of three nights at Albert Hall, supporters all throughout the venue were eager to catch this historic event on camera.

Peter Hook and The Light took their bows as Movement came to a close with the classic song ‘Denial,’ leaving the audience calling for more as they left the stage.

The band performed on stage one last time that evening, while fans chanted for more. Performing the most well-known and iconic songs by Joy Division and New Order, including ‘Atmosphere,’ ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart,’ and ‘Blue Monday’ to cap off this spectacular evening.

Peter Hook and The Light received a standing ovation from fans all around Albert Hall, who filled the venue with applause. They gave their last bow before leaving the stage.
