American Pop Punk legends Blink-182 have officially confirmed the return of guitarist/singer Tom DeLonge after a seven-year and two-album absence.

News of the original line-up’s comeback has been accompanied by the announcement of new music and an extensive world tour visiting North America, South America, Europe and Australia throughout 2023 and early 2024.

Speculation that Delonge would inevitably return has been rampant since he first left the band in 2015.

Over the summer, DeLonge’s admission that he wasn’t sure if he was still a member only threw more fuel onto the fire, and many assumed an announcement would be just weeks away.

Blink first announced the comeback through a double-entendre laced, adult humour-filled video clip via social media channels and teased the arrival of a new single, ‘Edging’, which is out now, available to stream and purchase.
A new album in 2023 has also been confirmed, which will be Blink’s first with DeLonge since 2011’s Neighbourhoods

DeLonge recently took to Twitter to share some details of the upcoming and currently unnamed record, stating: ‘‘The new Blink-182 album has some of the most progressive and elevated music we’ve ever had”.

Drummer Travis Barker simply added: “This new Blink-182 album is 🤯”.

DeLonge also posted a thank you letter to Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio and DeLonge’s replacement), writing: “To be honest, the band would not even be here today if it were not for your ability to jump in and save the day. So from my heart to yours, thank you for being a member of our band”.

Skiba has since posted his own reply on Instagram.

Blink-182 is returning to Manchester at the AO Arena on Sunday, 15th October 2023.

Tickets are available online.
