The Manchester Fashion Institute at Manchester Metropolitan University has launched a digital exhibition celebrating the work and experiences of graduating students.

The ‘Opening Space’ online exhibition showcases the work of final year students from across fashion design, fashion communication and fashion business specialisms.

Officially launched online on the 7th of June, ‘Opening Space’ brings together students’ work in a virtual space to exhibit their dedication, talent and hard work. It is the second digital show the Manchester Fashion Institute has produced.

“We look forward to celebrating the hard work of this unique cohort, hearing their stories and looking forward to a positive future. We are extremely proud to also be taking part in this year’s Graduate Fashion Week and London Fashion Week.”

Each student has been invited to create their own personal profile to showcase their work, which cover a range of themes including environmental issues, fast fashion, diversity and representation in the industry, and other key relevant social issues.

Jo Jenkinson, Deputy Head at Manchester Fashion Institute, said: “It is wonderful to be able to come together for this programme of online events that celebrate the achievements of the 2021 graduates. They have worked through unprecedented challenges and demonstrated incredible resilience and creativity, generating impactful and innovative work. We are very proud to showcase their projects and launch this new generation of fashion talent.”

Manchester Fashion Institute is hosting a series of online events as part of this graduation series, ranging from talks on diversity, the future of fashion, and digital catwalks.

Manchester Fashion Institute will also be taking part in the GFW21 Catwalk Schedule on Tuesday 15th June, 4:30pm.
