Chris Barrie has today confirmed that he would be happy to play Gordon Brittas in a revival of the comedy TV show Brittas Empire.

The BBC comedy originally ran from 1991 to 1997 and featured Barrie as Gordon Brittas, the most annoying leisure centre manager imaginable.

Speaking at Manchester Comic Con 2014, Barrie said there is “some talk about bringing The Brittas Empire back” and “I’d be happy to bring it back… with a 21st century angle.”

But Barrie says there is a question over whether the original writers will write it, even if the BBC is willing to renew or sell the programme. “It depends on the writers,” says Barrie, “one of them is reportedly working on it right now” but the other one, says Barrie, “never wants to work in television ever again”.
