Rumours were confirmed today as Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis revealed British MC Stormzy as the first headliner of next year’s festival.
The news broke as posters appeared in Oxfam shop windows in Glastonbury town centre, and Streatham, close to where Stormzy grew up.
Photos were shared on Twitter and the news was later confirmed by the grime artist on his Instagram account.

The announcement marks the first time a grime artist has headlined the Pyramid Stage at the festival. It will be Stormzy’s third performance at Glastonbury after appearing in the Sonic Tent in 2016 and the Other Stage in 2017.
Emily Eavis, co-organiser and youngest daughter of the festival’s founder, said they look for artists who will deliver an exciting show: “Headliners should be the best artists around – whether they’re rappers, pop stars or rock bands. The genre is irrelevant.”
Announcing Stormzy’s headline slot on social media, Eavis said: “He’s one of the most exciting British artists to come along in years, and after seeing him play here in 2017 we knew next time he had to come back and headline the Pyramid.”

Rumours abound as press and festival-goers speculate about which other acts will perform, while Arctic Monkeys and Liam Gallagher remain the bookies favourites to appear.
Next year’s festival will run from 26th – 30th June. Tickets went on sale in October and sold out in 36 minutes.
