Review: Swimming Tapes Latest Single ‘Easy Strand’

Feeling short changed that summer departed without so much as a goodbye? Swimming Tapes share that sentiment, salvaging what was left of the warmer months in the form of their bright and breezy new single, Easy Strand.

Wasting no time with overdrawn introductions, it begins with shimmering chord progressions, laden with sweet overlays. One could be forgiven for drawing parallels to dream pop staples Real Estate, but London’s Swimming Tapes sure enough reinvent the formula and make it their own.

There’s an air of nostalgia to places you may have never even been to, as Swimming Tapes sonically paint a vivid picture of beaches, warm evenings and time spent with good friends, placing the listener directly in the scene.

Listen to it here.

Manchester residents can also rejoice at the fact that they can sample those last, fleeting shreds of Summer on Thursday the 15th of November at YES, where Swimming Tapes will be performing live.
