Manchester Metropolitan University are offering start-up business support by showcasing their graduates art in a new Stockport gallery.

By Benjamin Cassidy

Marketplace Studios, situated in Stockport’s Old Town Market Square, is currently in search for items to sell supplied by students of Manchester Met. The studio was set up to support creative graduates, by offering a platform to sell and an opportunity to earn.

Students are encouraged to submit their work in order to put their work on the map and gain exposure and recognition in the creative industry, and possibly even receive requests for further commissions.

Marketplace Studios also gives students the chance to earn some extra money in time for Christmas, as well as being able to say they’ve sold their own work on their CV.

The studio will be considering all work that is sent to them via email and are encouraging all creative ideas, such as a specific design, using on-masse and selling multiple copies.

Once students have submitted a piece to the gallery, it is up to the artist to decide the price and terms of sale, and when sold a 35% commission will be deducted.

All great things start small. This really could be a big chance.

To get involved, email details and images to Clare Knox-Bentham, at C.Knox-bentham@mmu.ac.uk, by 5pm, Friday 24th November 2017.
