There is excitement among Foo Fighters’ fans this week as the band look set to announce a possible headline slot at Glastonbury. The Foos were supposed to play the festival in 2015, after the release of their Sonic Highways album, but were forced to cancel after lead singer Dave Grohl fell off the stage and broke his leg during a gig in Sweden.

Foo Fighters are set to play a number of festivals this summer, with tickets already on sale for Finland’s Rock the Beach, Denmark’s Roskilde Fest and Spain’s Mad Cool Festival among others. The homepage of the band’s website has recently been changed to a departure board that lists all their 2017 appearances with the top slot listed as ‘pending’.

As is often their way, the Foos are also teasing their UK fans with the possibility of a secret gig, perhaps taking place as soon as in the next few days. This week, a select group of fans, seeming to have been selected from the website mailing list, have received what appear to be airline tickets through the post. The tickets contain instructions for the fans to ‘check in’ on the website with the fictional airline ‘Obelisk Airlines’. The airline logo is a pyramid, therefore creating a connection to Glastonbury’s famous Pyramid stage. The boarding pass on the website is signed by Dave Grohl and, once checked in, fans have been instructed to check their email on 24th Feb.

Foo Fighters are renowned for teasing their fans and for hosting last minute, small scale gigs, with tickets often going on sale just the day before. With the band having been spotted at LAX airport yesterday evening, rumours are circulating that they are currently on route to the UK and that the airline tickets are a personal invitation to a secret gig possibly taking place at the end of the week in Frome, Somerset. Many of the fans invited seem to be from the surrounding area.
