Organisers say that around 5,000 people attended the Manchester #StandUpToTrump demo on Monday evening.
Protesters gathered in Manchester on Monday to show their opposition to Donald Trump’s changes to the US immigration rules.
The demonstration, held at Albert Square, was announced after the controversial ban to prevent travellers from seven Muslim countries entering the US.
Organisers of the Manchester event said they wanted people who attend to be ‘prepared to make noise and show that we do not support Theresa May’s decision to ally herself with Trump’s fascist America’.
An executive order announced by the President on Friday suspended entry to the US for people from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for the next 90 days.
President Trump has said the move is designed to keep out terrorists, but there has been global outcry since the decision was announced.
The demonstration in Manchester follows two previous events held in the city in opposition to President Trump’s inauguration and policies.
