Voting is now open for the Humanity Hallows magazine student photography competition.
Humanity Hallows are delighted to announce the shortlisted entries for the Issue 5 Student Photography Competition.
All Manchester Met students were invited to submit entries into the Humanity Hallows Student Photography Competition, celebrating the beautiful city of Manchester.
The ten shortlisted entrants will be put to a social media vote running until January 1. The most popular image will be selected as winner and the announcement and a formal presentation made at the Humanity Hallows Issue 5 launch party in January (date to be announced soon). All entries have been considered carefully by a panel of judges from the IDEA office and Multimedia Journalism department at Manchester Met.
Natalie Carragher, Student Media Officer, said “The quality of entries has been extremely high and made judging the competition extremely difficult. Manchester is a stunning city and this has been reflected in the impressive images we have received. They reflect the dramatic architecture, student life and sense of community Manchester has to offer.”
The overall winner will receive £100 in vouchers, an official award certificate and the opportunity to be published in Issue 5 of Humanity Hallows print magazine.

“I decided to explore Manchester’s alternative live music and youth culture scenes though 35mm film Photography. I got to know my subjects to ensure when taking candid shots I had their permission and was able to get a true reflection of the culture and nothing misleading. This has developed into a constant project for myself seeing my work develop through my first year on the Graphic Design degree here at Manchester Met.”

“This photo was captured back on the 17th October 2016 in St. Albert Square, I was right at the front of the crowd a the Team GB Heroes Parade. I feel it captures the atmosphere of Manchester, how the city is always proud of being British and how the people of Manchester are always up to celebrate and put on a fantastic party.”
