Fickle Friends, an Indie-Pop band from Brighton, released their new single ‘Brooklyn’ last week, ready for their upcoming UK tour at the end of November.
Formed in 2013, singer Natassja “Natti” Shiner and drummer Sam Morris met at Paul McCartney’s music school, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Whilst at university, the duo recruited lead-guitarist Chris Hall, bassist Harry Herrington and keyboardist Jack Wilson.
With a discography of summer-evoking beats and an ‘80s, new wave vibe, Fickle Friends signed to Polydor Records in early 2016, after valiantly touring without a manager or label for two years.
The Brighton quintet have released eight singles since 2014, their debut EP ‘Velvet’ in 2015, and have since returned from the United States, where they recorded their debut album with famed record producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, Keane) and filmed the music video for their new single ‘Brooklyn’ in California’s Woodland Hills.
Their upcoming UK tour begins in Hull on November 18th and includes dates in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Leicester, finishing in London’s Heaven on December 1st, which will be their biggest London show to date. Tickets for the show cost as little as £8 and promise a charismatic and upbeat set list, including recent singles ‘Swim’, ‘Cry Baby’ and ‘Brooklyn’.
The highly anticipated music video for their single ‘Cry Baby’ was released in August of this year and features some evocative characters and Natti’s much-loved, embroidered ‘Cry Baby’ jacket, which has created an unexpected buzz amongst fans.
The band collaborated with visual artist Mat Maitland for the design of their hand-painted logo and recent cover art. Maitland, who famously created the artwork for Michael Jackson’s Xscape, creates vibrant and eye-catching collages and has designed cover art for Prince, Lana Del Ray and Marina and the Diamonds.
