Humanity Hallows Issue 4 Out Now!

Humanity Hallows can confirm that eight of the ninety-six of Manchester’s Rainy City Roller Derby Team will be playing for Team England in 2017.
Players Alex Valentine, Alex Wilde, Fay Roberts, Fayetal Blonde, as well as Fisher, Menace, Missy Rascal and Philly, all proved their worth by beating other hopeful entrants at try-outs in Manchester and Birmingham, finding a total of 31 skaters.
Both Fay Roberts and Missy Rascal have previously made national squads. However, the eight players attending now is the highest number of skaters from the Rainy City team to make it to Team England so far.
The good news comes at a time when Rainy City recently came in at an impressive 6th place at the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) International play-offs, winning half of their four games.
Rainy City Skater Caroline Topham, aka Menace, said, “This time four years ago I was only just learning to skate at Rainy City, and now I’m very excited to be training alongside some of the country’s top roller derby players.”
The next few months for Team England will consist of preparing for the third Roller Derby World Cup, a competition that sees national teams compete in a three day tournament at the the end of 2017.
The sport has seen a massive surge of popularity recently, with teams from as far as Mexico, Japan, Finland and Australia all taking part in previous competitions. The location of the 2017 tournament will be confirmed at a later date.
