Police were called to the junction of Carnarvon Street and Cheetham Hill Road at 1am this morning after reports that a stabbing had taken place. Officers blocked off the area and pitched up a forensic tent to investigate the crime.

Two men have been arrested and a victim has not yet been traced. However, one person has been taken to North Manchester General Hospital.

A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service said that they were called to the scene at 12:50am and sent out an Ambulance and a Rapid Response Vehicle.

Images and footage on the Manchester Evening News website show one police car at the scene and the forensic tent in place. Greater Manchester Police released a statement at 9:25am yesterday:

“At around 12.50am on Friday 14 October 2016, police were called to a report that a man had been stabbed on Cheetham Hill Road.

“Officers attended the scene and arrested two men aged 23 and 30 on suspicion of Section 18 assault. They both remain in police custody for questioning.

“Police have launched an investigation and enquiries are ongoing to trace the victim.”

Anyone with information about this crime should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 65 of 14/10/16 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
