To celebrate World Mental Health Day on 10th October, the Manchester Met Counselling, Health and Wellbeing service are hosting a screening of Silver Linings Playbook, starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
Silver Linings is a romantic comedy that explores the impact of mental health. Andrew Barley of the Manchester Met counselling service said:
“To promote World Mental Health Day we’re putting on the film Silver Linings Playbook. It’s a fun film with a serious note about mental illness and relationships. We hope people will enjoy it and think about the power of relationships and wellbeing.
“As humans we are social creatures needing good relationships to feel good about ourselves. Sadly, when we are mentally ill we may be deprived of this basic need which makes a difficult place, even harder.”
The event takes place on Monday 10th October at 5.30pm in Room 1.25 of the Manchester Met Business School and there will be free popcorn and a drink for the first 20 people to arrive. After the film, there will be a short discussion about its themes. To book your place, call 0161 247 3493
The Manchester Met Counselling, Health and Wellbeing Service offer a vast array of services to support students with mental health difficulties. Current services include a five week course in partnership with the NHS about coping with Eating Distress and free workshops to help people manage anxiety, low mood, panic and sleep problems.
