The Manchester student community flocked to the city centre this week as the annual MCR Student Night Out returned. The annual event, organised by the Manchester Arndale in collaboration with the Heart of Manchester BID, saw over 200 high street and independent shops offer massive discounts on goods such as homeware, clothes, shoes and even food.
As well as getting discounts on their shopping, students were treated to some great entertainment with a variety of DJs, such as Faith and Tim Wright, making appearances at various venues across the city. At G Star Raw, visitors were also invited to record their evening in a photo booth as well as enter a prize draw. Also on hand to keep the crowds entertained were a Claw Crane at Topshop and beer pong and pizza at the Vans store.
Response to the event was enthusiastic and positive, with students eager to find as many opportunities as possible to make their student loans stretch a little further. Zac Gardiner talked about what he liked best about the evening, “The amount of great offers they had and the free goodie bags were very helpful.”
Shannon Summer described the one night only event as “The best time to experience Manchester while saving money and getting freebies”.
Mahdi Qazi Azmi also thought the event was a great idea, particularly for students who are new to the city. He said, “It’s a fantastic way to become comfortable with the city centre and the deals can be great for getting university supplies or stuff for your halls.”
