If you’re a classic horror movie fan and you missed last weeks double bill double dose of Dracula, never fear, this week brings more of the same. For the final week of the Horror Season, AMC presents two of Stephen King’s iconic adaptations, with both ‘Carrie’ and ‘Christine’. The double bill will take place on both Saturday and Sunday nights, so there’s no excuse for missing out either.
First up is the original 1976 version of ‘Carrie’. The supernatural horror follows Carrie White, a shy and outcast 17 year-old girl sheltered from the world by her domineering, religious mother. When finally pushed to breaking point however, Carrie unleashes hidden telekinetic powers on her classmates at their senior prom. The film has reached such cult status that it went on to be remade in 2013 starring Chloë Grace Moretz.
It’s followed by 1983’s ‘Christine’, another of King’s beloved classics. It tells the tale of unpopular nerd Arnie Cunningham who buys a 1958 Plymouth Fury, naming it Christine. After bully Buddy Repperton defaces Christine, the auto restores itself to perfect condition and begins killing off Buddy and his friends. Determined to stop the deaths, Dennis and Arnie’s girlfriend, Leigh Cabot, set out to destroy Christine once and for all.
Tickets for each weeks movies will be available for £12 on either of the nights or £10 if pre-ordered before. The double bills kick off at 7.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
