Graduation is one of the most important days of a university student’s experience, and with pictures being taken on graduation day by your parents, and of course even more pictures with your friends, getting your look right is so important.
No-one wants to look back and regret their outfit choice, so, here at Humanity Hallows, we can give you a few ideas on how to get it right. Whether you want to spend more or keep it affordable, embrace the more traditional look, or keep up with the latest trends, here are some suggestions for you.
This crepe shift dress from Karen Millen is quite expensive, but at £170 it is a beautiful investment piece. The bright colour will look striking against your graduation gown, and the cut is extremely flattering. What’s great about the dress is its flexibility. You can easily wear it for more than one occasion. A short term expense for a dress with such longevity.
This Kenneth Cole silk slim fit suit from House of Fraser was £415.00, but is now available at the amazing price of £124.50. Blue suits are a nice change from the more traditional black one, and are less dull than the grey. And, with a price like that for such an incredible piece of tailoring, how could you ignore it?!
Looking at the high street now, here are some options that won’t stretch the bank account too much.
Miss Selfridge always has beautiful pieces at amazing prices and this double-layer bodycon dress at £42.00 is beautiful and classy. The lace style is current, but also classic, and this dress can also be easily transferred from day to evening if you want to carry on the celebrations into the early hours.
You can never go wrong with a traditional black suit, and this New Look suit is extremely reasonable and will make any new graduate look dapper. The black slim fit loose jacket is just £59.99, and the slim fit waistcoat and slim fit trousers are each £19.99. Who said looking like James Bond has to cost a fortune?
This lace-trim maxi dress from Topshop is absolutely stunning and is amazing value at just £69.00. These days the longer the hem the better, and the lace detail along the chest gives the demure style of the dress a bit of character. If you want to stand out at graduation, this dress is the way to do it.
So there’s a few different ideas on what you could wear without being too much out of pocket. Shop around, and spend time on your outfit choice, wear something that you feel great and confident in, as this is a day you will never forget, and you don’t want to spend it wishing you had put on something else! And, finally, girls (and boys!), make sure you wear shoes that you can walk in as you don’t want to trip over on the graduation stage. Sometimes, but not always, comfort is more practical than style!
