Saudade

Saudade

The longing of a recent widow.

A girl without her boy.

A dog strays from its best friend,

seeking with hope, and certain vain.

From a baby’s first suckle; an object of

requirement and frequency.

A sudden aroma—sunshine

Enters before the moment passes

Yet it lingers in sight of our mind’s eye–

Decaying house, deserted fields

Reconstructed.

Departures, arrivals; welcome, farewell

Nervous touching, nervous laughter

a tear, a cry, some hiccups

Missed you. Missing you. Miss you.

Saudade
