Manchester’s buzzing comedy scene continues to impress with local nights such as Delightful Sausage and Quippopotamus continuing to offer up new brands of underground comedy. However coming up is the next Group Therapy Comedy event, meaning you’ll get the chance to see some of the up and comers of the global comedy scene, right here in Manchester. Who said it was all bad weather and late trains?
Following on from last months show featuring Nick Thune, the next event features a new headliner, and a new venue. Josie Long will headline a one night only event at the Pub/Zoo on March 5th, it’s just across from the All Saints Campus so no excuse for non-attendance all you students. The British comedian is fresh off her European tour, as well as a two week run at the Soho Playhouse in NYC, and has starred on successful Group Therapy bills in the past (so you know it’ll be good).
The three time Edinburgh Comedy award nominee has had a flourishing career, encompassing multiple Radio 4 appearances, panel appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Fifteen to One and Was It Something I Said, as well as starring in the coveted drama Skins as the groups career advisor.
Performing stand up since the age of 14, Long’s style has evolved through her career, including narrowly missing out on Edinburgh’s grand prize, which her fans blamed on her uncompromising politically charged set. Not a bad reason to lose I’d say.
She’ll be joined by Fin Taylor, who Group Therapy have been trying to book for some time, and Jess Fostekew, who won over the audience at a previous show and is now back to host the nights antics.
