From the opening night in May 1982 until its closure in 1997, the Haçienda became a cornerstone of Manchester’s cultural identity, a crucible of the city’s formative dance music and acid house scenes.
New book The Haçienda Threads, written by Rebecca Hook, celebrates the life and legacy of one of the city’s most loved nightclubs, as told through a series of personal recounts and evocative photographs.
With a foreword by bassist and co-founder of the post-punk band Joy Division, Peter Hook, and contributions from Noel Gallagher and John Cooper Clarke, the book is a vivid retelling of a world-beating movement in the heart of the city.
The Haçienda Threads launch party will take place on Wednesday 9th October at New Century. The event will feature a panel of culturally renowned conversationalists, including musicians, fashionistas and former employees, who will converge for an evening befitting the enduring legacy of the Hacienda.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book signed by panellists including author Rebecca Hook. Tickets to the event are limited to an intimate capacity, with all proceeds donated to Mind, Sarcoma and the Albert Kennedy Trust.
The evening will culminate in true Hacienda fashion as revellers can expect late night DJ sets from performers including Guy Williams, Graeme Park and Peter Hook.
The Haçienda Threads will be published on Wednesday 10th October by Headline.
