Happy National Tea Day 2016! Below we’ve drawn up a list of our top five favourite tea rooms in Manchester, so you can celebrate National Tea Day 2016 in style!
Richmond Tea Rooms
Take a trip down to the Alice in Wonderland inspired tea room. Enjoy the quirky and mesmerising surroundings of one of Manchester’s finest tea rooms. The exterior of Richmond Tea Rooms is clean and warming with lines of bunting and beautiful flowers framing the windows. Inside, the Alice in Wonderland themed interior is also mind-blowing.
On the menu you will find a lovely selection of light meals, including an array of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes. The variety of home-made cakes displayed in the counter will leave your mouth watering. As well as English breakfast, there are a number of interesting teas available to try from Earl Grey to China rose.
Whether you choose breakfast, afternoon tea or late night cocktails – you won’t be disappointed here. Overall, the service is efficient, friendly and you’re in for a treat!
Sugar Junction
Retro, cosy and simply beautiful. Situated in the middle of the Northern Quarter on Tib Street, Sugar Junction provide quality afternoon tea in the heart of Manchester. If you’re a lover of everything vintage, then you will definitely love this gorgeous tea room.
Afternoon tea includes a cake selection, muffin (selection of fillings) and a scone with cream and jam. They serve over 25 different teas, cakes which are freshly baked and home cooked food in a chic vintage tea room. The tea, especially the chai lattes as well as the selection of gorgeous home-made cakes are out of this world.
From the vintage inspired interior décor to the beautiful vintage clothes the waitresses wear, Sugar Junction has a lovely vintage feel. As well as, the retro china crockery which further adds to the charm of the place. So just relax, rewind and have a light bite.
Teacup Kitchen
Afternoon Tea is served from midday each day at Teacup. From fine loose-leaf teas to home-baked cakes, Teacup will delight you. Treat yourself to a pistachio cake, or a rich pistachio sponge topped with a creamy pistachio icing, which also comes with a pot of whole rosebud infusion- simply sweet and soothing.
Current favourites are also a warm miniature scone served with clotted cream, and a miniature fruit meringue tart. A large selection of tea is also available from Assam to Earl Grey, along with a wonderful range of sandwiches and cakes to choose from. Apart from the food, tea, cake and happy atmosphere, the staff are friendly and helpful too.
Tea 42
Another place we love is Tea 42, situated in the heart of Manchester on High Street. This is another quirky spot offering tea lovers a tea-drinking and afternoon tea experience. The interior is modern, bright and beautiful and you will be amazed by the choice of tea and cake available. You should go and sink into the leather comfy chairs and soak up the atmosphere.
Patisserie Valerie
Looking through the window of Patisserie Valerie, the glass cabinets displaying cakes and pastries will attract you in like buzzing bumble bees on flowers. The menu also consists of more desserts such as, smoothies, ice cream and milkshakes, plus savouries, breakfast and sandwiches.
Patisserie Valerie have the most delicious cakes, gateaux and patisseries which stand out against the subdued tones of the walls. If you adore cakes then you will want to buy and try everything and what’s stopping you from doing so?
Forgetting the calorie content, treat yourself not only one, but with two indulging delights and if you can’t resist then take away some cakes with you too. Overall, Patisserie Valerie are busy, mouth-watering and scrumptious!
