By Vick Jones

Manchester is awash with commotion this morning as hundreds of spectators, equipped with banners and cameras, line the streets waiting for the arrival of the President of China Xi Jinping.

The Chinese delegates will be meeting David Cameron today, visiting Manchester City’s Etihad stadium, the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester and Manchester Town Hall.

Jinping’s visit to the UK follows George Osborne’s announcement of a historic deal which will see Chinese investers back a series of ‘Northern Powerhouse’ schemes.
